This is "Ocean," a new video from Bloodthirsty Butchers. It's a pretty simple idea, but it looks fantastic. It's a good match for the sort of calm epicness of the song. The no-frill quality of the sets and stop-motion are also a nice touch. I really like the owl.
Schroeder-Headz "Sleepin'Bird"
This is another great, simple and calm video. Plus I'm a sucker for super high-contrast. The pace of the scenery passing by is a perfect match for the rolling quality of the song. (Found at http://tokyooutthere.com)
Recoride "BaseballMurder"
Budget? Who needs a budget when you have a zillion balloons and an energetic band?
Perfume "Natural Beauty Basic"
It's good to know that, while the world economy is collapsing, that the girls in Perfume are still living like it's 1985. Also, I think Jamiroquai and OK Go have done the slidey dance thing better already. But over 2 million views can't be wrong!
Savlonic/Weebl "Tiny Japanese Girl"
What's not to love about this new video from Weebl? It features some pretty cute Godzilla stuff, as well as a Tiny Japanese Girl playing a synth. Win/win.

Glad to see you are back to your blog ZB! I hope to hear more from ya this year.
I would sincerely like to have someone explain the popularity of Perfume to me. I just don't get it.
Perfume is popular in Japan and elsewhere because no one sounds like them. Mainstream Japan is still churning Jpop as though is 1999. At Least Perfume sounds post millennium.
And they are idols so people can forgive their lip syncing and the lack of control that they have on their image.
Don't get me wrong, I do like Perfume a lot, but sometimes I can't help but laugh at the sheer commercial-ness of their material. I am well aware that they are a product, but that doesn't mean that the music isn't good. It's just funny to me that the video is so over the top with the "gosh, girls sure do like to shop!" angle. :D

LOL. True, true if you are an idol newbie I guess.
Perfume commercialism is reaching AKB48 level. Unfortunately, in Japan, commercialism is a sign of success, never has it been artistic integrity.
And based on Perfume latest single, Fushizen na Girl, they should change their name to Yasutaka Nakata's Perfume :D
